O-Zee Designs – Sunday Artist Interview

Over the next coming Sundays I shall be posting my own artist interviews with some of my favourite people who reside in this multitalented world of art… Today we have the the wonderful Zoe Jones to answer a few questions… over to you Zoe!

First of all, who are you?

My names Zoe, I’m from Peterborough. I’m mainly a pen and ink artist.

My pictures always start off as a sketch and then have to be re drawn in ink. It can take several drawings before the final piece is done.

When you were asked (all those years ago!), “what do you want to be when you grow up?”  What did you answer?

I can honestly say that since I was little the only thing I’ve ever wanted to be is an artist. I have always loved art and being creative.

What is the funniest thing as an artist that has ever happened to you?

Oh dear. Well I’m naturally quite clumsy and if I can knock something over or spill something it usually finds a way of happening.

What is the hardest part of being creative?

Always having a million ideas and never enough time to do them.

What advice would you give to an artist just starting out?

Be brave… And reach out to other local art groups and online communities. They have been fab, lots of laughs and really useful for networking.

What subjects inspire you?

Animals without a doubt. I love graphic novels and comic art as well.

Who are the 3 greatest living artists in your opinion? (they don’t have to be famous!)

Ben  Kwok is one of my favourites, his work is amazing. I also love Lora Zombie and Jamie Hewlitt

Who are the 3 greatest dead artists in your opinion?

I love H.R Giger I was introduced to his work by one of my best friends, much to my art teacher’s disgust lol.

Van Gogh is an artist that works just makes me smile.

I also really love Degas, I love his movement and  spent a lot of time studying him at college.

What is your favourite work of art you have ever produced?

This A3 price was made for one of my closest friends and i lost count of the hours that went into it. But I feel it’s one of my best and most considered pieces.I sometimes feel like the picture knows how it wants to be and it’s pretty much just putting itself on the page and this was one of them.

What was the last piece of art you sold?

These cute little hedgehogs

And finally… Because this is really important….

What’s the best type of cheese?  (haha)

Vegan cheese 😀
